What are the restrictions for dogs on Ceredigion beaches?

A run on Llangrannog beach

The unspoiled beaches in Ceredigion are perfect for taking your dogs for a walk.  Some are dog friendly year round, while others have some restrictions from 1st May to 30 September.  However, there is always an area of beach where the whole family, including pets, can be together.  The bylaws are set out below, but always check for restrictions information on signs close to the beach to be sure, before taking your dog onto the beach.

DOG BYLAWS ON CEREDIGION BEACHES

All beaches in Ceredigion are designated under the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 under which it is an offence - punishable by a fine of up to £1,000 - not to clean up after your dog.

There is one public beach on Ceredigion's coastline where pet dogs are completely banned during certain times of the year, and that is managed by the National Trust at Mwnt.  They also manage Penbryn which does not allow dogs south of Nant Hoffnant.

Where there are Prohibitions, the beaches are listed below, together with some which do not have restrictions. No prohibitions apply to guide dogs for the blind.
